Good read...

In these dark financial times (recession), with so many crooks and scoundrels (CEOs and others). It is refreshing to read someone who just tells it like it is. So, without further ado, the latest words of wisdom from the Oracle of Omaha.

Birthday Party

Willa turned 2 yesterday. We had her party on Saturday with Grandma Linda and Nana in attendance. Pretty much amounted to cupcakes (I think I ate 3 over the weekend, yum!), a quick song, and presents. Last night I was going to sing "Happy Birthday" to Willa and she said, "no singing", so we recited "Happy Birthday" together, then had a dance party to 80's hits. Willa loves to dance.

Pictures to come.

Moving on up

Willa is now a White Tiger at Kidscentre. Rroww!

She seems to like it and knows her new teachers' names already. She is also linking more words together to make little sentences, like "kiss bunny", "good dolly", and "Give it to me now and no one will get hurt." OK, the last one hasn't exactly happened yet, but it's coming.

Mea Culpa

Apparently I was wrong and Ethan was right. He's happy to tell me, "Dad, you were wrong", and this time I was. Ethan was actually referring to Michigan, not Minnesota, when idfentifying where Ned and Donny were from.

Busy Season!

Every year from Valentine's Day until April 15 and from September 15 until October 15 we have "busy season". For those not in the tax world, October 15 is the end of the automatic 6 month extension period (latest date you can file your return and not be late). That means Karri is working twice as hard and is twice is busy, so things are a bit hectic at home. We all do our best to survive this period, but it does get a bit crazy, especially on weekends.

Good news is that now that she is not at Moss Adams, she is significantly less harried by pointless meetings and dealing with internal issues and it is all about the work. Good news is also that De Haan CPA is doing well, despite the recession.

Bad news is that getting anything done that does not relate to a tax return can be a challenge, but having done it for 12 years or so, we are getting better at it AND since I used to be at Arthur Andersen, I am at least able to understand what she is going through.

However, if you see her, wish her well and give her a big hug. This time of year she needs it.
